This was my very first book. I think it has helped a lot of parents. But parents are so busy. Too busy to read. Sometimes too busy to shower or eat more than a protein bar!
I am so happy that now parents who have no time to read a book can get access to useful special needs toilet training information.
Just like the digital and the paperback versions, “The Practical Guide to Toilet Training Your Child with Low Muscle Tone” audiobook will explain why this is such a tough skill for your child to master. The sensory processing issues, the stability issues, even the social-emotional issues of hypotonia are discussed in ways that help you to take action with confidence.
I include an extensive readiness checklist that really gets parents thinking. Some kids really are ready early. This readiness checklist motivates their parents. Some kids are so far from ready that this is the time for pre-training. That saves a lot of frustration on everyone’s part. Never start training when a child doesn’t have the foundational skills. ALWAYS do pre-training so that everyone enters training with some skills.
Because children aren’t really trained if the only thing they learned how to do is to eliminate into a toilet instead of a diaper, I include wiping and clothing management strategies. Good clothing choices and excellent wiping instructions make all the difference for kids with low tone. If no one ever mentioned this, now you know!
